I. Dictionary Web Quest

A.    Find the meaning of the five words assigned to you using any search engines.

B.    Write the meaning of the words on a (1/4) index card.

C.    Format:

Part of Speech

Pronunciation

Derivatives (a word that is formed from the term)

Word History:

Meaning

Sentence

References (at least two sites where you got the information)

 

Here's an example of how you should write the definition.  Be reminded that your assignment should be handwritten on a (1/4) index card and to be submitted on or before October 11, 2012. 

II.  Reading Web Quest

1. Using online resources, explore the elements of a short story.

2. Read the story assigned to your section. (Just click on the link below to read the story.)

HRM 11A - The Celebrated Jumping Frog of the Calaveras County by Mark Twain

COE 11A - The Thieves who Couldn't Help Sneezing by Thomas Hardy

HRS 11A - Beware of the Dog by Roald Dahl

11B - The Sniper by Liam O'Flaherty

3. As you go through the story, use the story chart provided and go through all the four charts (character map, conflict map, resolution map, setting map) to plot out what you learned while you read the short story. Be sure to follow the instructions.

4. You can just copy the charts or print them.
